New Facebook app allows mobile users to create their own ‘RingTagz’ with first ever UGC feature
RingTagz, the service that allows mobile users to customise the ringing heard by those that call them, has today announced the launch of its User Generated RingTagz feature. For the first time, UK mobile phone users can record and upload their own messages using the RingTagz Facebook application, even tailoring specific messages to specific callers, and applying them to their phone in minutes.
- An early example of the newly launched UGC function is the first ever person to be ‘dumped’ by a ringback tone
- 21 year old Milly Arnold recorded a message for her then boyfriend, Thomas Myers (25), detailing the end of their relationship
- Despite only testing the service for a few days, RingTagz has experienced unprecedented demand for the service as mobile users unlock the potential of another element of personalised communication
- The new feature allows any T-Mobile, Virgin or Orange customer to record a tag up to 20 seconds long, costing just £1 per month subscription and can be accessed straight from the Facebook page or the Ringtagz website
- RingTagz also allows subscribers to customise ring back tones with a library of exclusive media, from chart music to television theme tunes
- Users can shuffle their RingTagz or apply specific content to specific callers
- The service can open up a powerful new communications opportunity for sales, branding and advertising teams
Quotations
Head of Central Marketing at RingTagz, Danielle Morgan commented:
“We are really excited about the new UGC feature with our service. The personalisation function means there is no end to what you can choose as your RingTagz, and the functionality of setting specific tags for specific callers makes it even more fun. Imagine your partner calling on your anniversary and there is a lovely, recorded message waiting for them? Or when it’s your Birthday coming up, you can let your family know exactly which presents you want!”
Milly Arnold commented:
“I’ve been using the RingTagz service for years, so when I saw on the Facebook page that you could record and upload your own tag I had a play around. My boyfriend just wouldn’t get the picture when I ignored his calls and texts, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally get the message. I simply recorded a ringtag telling him that if he insisted on hounding me, then this would be the message he heard every single time: ‘we’re finished’. One phone call later, and he left me alone.”
Thomas Myers commented:
“To be honest, I thought it was hilarious. It’s fair enough – I’m quite proud of being the first person ditched by a RingTag. I was tempted to record one for Milly, but then I realised she’ll probably never call me again. I used it to ask another girl out actually, and now we’ve been on a few dates: that’s mobile karma.”
