Sportivate comes to Worcester Swimming Pool
This January will see the launch of two new and exciting classes that will help keep young mums and young adults active well into the New Year. The classes will be held at Worcester Swimming Pool in Worcester on behalf of Sportivate.
- Sportivate is a £32 million Lottery programme that gives 14-25 year olds access to six-week courses in a range of activities including those that will be held at Worcester Swimming Pool
- Aiming to increase participation amongst teenagers and young adults, whilst providing them with a safe and educational environment to participate in, Worcester Swimming Pool will be running two courses as follows:
- Sportivate young mums programme – an aqua fit course available for mums aged between 14-25 years of age. The on site crèche will allow mums to take part in the programme whilst The Saffron Centre will look after their children
- The six week programme launches on 31st January and will take place every Tuesday between 11am and 12pm costing only £2.40 per session
- Sportivate Swim – this course allows anyone aged 14-25 unlimited swimming for six weeks for only £15
- If participants access the swimming facilities at least once a week across the six weeks then they will receive one week of unlimited access to Worcester Swimming pool including the fitness suite and classes completely FREE
- The programme will be running from the 9th January 2012 until the end of March
- The Sportivate programme is part of the Play strand of Sport England’s mass participation legacy programme ‘Places, People Play’, which was launched on 15 November 2010
- Sportivate will provide a range of attractive and sustainable sporting activities for 14-25 year olds who are not choosing to participate in sport during their own time, or are doing so for a very limited amount of time
Quotations:
Dan Eaton, Operations Manager at Worcester Swimming Pool, commented:
“Sportivate is an amazing initiative to help get young people engaged in a range of activities. We hope that these new courses will help capture the imagination of young people in the area, and make them aware of the brilliant facilities that Worcester Swimming Pool can offer.”
