Sharing food leads to romance this Valentine’s Day
February 9, 2012
From Lady and the Tramp to Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke in 9 1/2 Weeks, sharing food is considered an act of love and, according to recent research from La Tasca, it seems us Brits are swapping our individual menu choices for food that encourages interaction, eye contact and conversation.
- With the most romantic day of the year just days away La Tasca questioned more than 1000 people about their preferences when it comes to eating out this Valentine’s Day
- 67% of those surveyed said they believe sharing a meal is a romantic act
- With love most certainly in the air on February the 14th there will also be couples up and down the country nervously planning marriage proposals
- The grand gesture of popping the question in public is still very popular according to the recent survey
- La Tasca discovered that 57% of those questioned said they would be most likely to get down on one knee and propose in a restaurant than any other public place
- To mark any proposals that do take place in a La Tasca restaurant, the old romantics will give the happy couple a free bottle of bubbly to celebrate
- Couples are being encouraged to celebrate their relationships by sharing a Spanish feast at La Tasca this Valentine’s Day.
- La Tasca has two menus to entice love birds this year – the Lovers’ menu at £14.95 per head and the Indulgers’ menu at £19.95. For more information click here.

Joanne Cox, Brand Marketing Manager for La Tasca restaurants said:
For most people the 14th of February is a day to celebrate love and your relationship and it’s great to see so many people appreciating the intimacy that sharing food can create. Tapas is designed to encourage interaction and conversation during the dinner party because it’s all about sharing your favourite food. All our dishes on our special Valentine’s menu are authentically Spanish and have been designed to arouse the senses from smell and taste to touch and sight, which, as we know, can be pretty powerful.
