La Tasca educates local school to celebrate National Spain Day

Recently transformed restaurant invites Berkshire schoolchildren to a day of Spanish culture.

La Tasca Bar & Kitchen Windsor yesterday welcomed the pupils of Oakfield First School to celebrate National Spain Day. Thirty Year 4 students were treated to the full, authentic tapas experience that La Tasca specialises in as well as benefiting from a lesson in traditional Spanish cuisine and culture. The lunchtime fiesta was hosted by Spanish born-and-bred General Manager, Moises Almenara who gave the children lessons in the history, language and cuisine of Spain.

  • The chosen school was Oakfield First, which brought 30 children to enjoy the celebrations that consisted of making their own paella, completing Spanish activity books and taking away their very own chefs hats
  • The annual Spanish holiday, known natively as Día de la Hispanidad, commemorates the exact date when Christopher Columbus first set foot in the Americas under the sponsorship of the Spanish monarchy, the Crown of Castile
  • La Tasca wanted to pay homage to its Spanish heritage by participating in the festivities and imparting some cultural knowledge on the next generation
  • To celebrate the new concept, last month the La Tasca team harnessed the power of social media to deliver a full 5PM fiesta to a local business
  • in August, La Tasca celebrated the launch of the new menu and interior with a Flamenco Flashmob
  • The new La Tasca is now open and taking reservations, and details of daily value-added offers can be found at the new look website www.latascakitchen.co.uk

Quotations

General Manager, Moises Almenara stated:

“Día de la Hispanidad is a very important and highly anticipated event in the Spanish calendar which I have missed since living in England so it’s a joy to be able to celebrate the anniversary with some of Windsor’s bright young minds.

“It was a pleasure to introduce Oakfield First School to our recently renovated restaurant and guide them through our revamped new menu which is comprised of a broad range of authentic, traditionally prepared Spanish dishes whilst also educating them on the countries history and language. It was a brilliant day.”

Oakfield First School commented:

“We were ecstatic to be the lucky school that got to experience National Spain Day at La Tasca Windsor. The children wouldn’t stop talking about it all week! We were all looked after very well and loved experimenting with the Spanish food and learning more about the culture.

“Moises was the perfect host and educated the children in a way that had them interested yet entertained. The little extras such as stickers, chef hats and activity books made for an even more special day. The teachers can’t wait to come back and experience it too!”
