Can’t cook, won’t cook: Housebites delivers dirty pans alongside gourmet food for ‘authentic fakers’ pretending they cooked
New takeaway service not only delivers high quality, fresh food – it can now bring the dirty pans for those looking to impress by faking that they cooked it
Housebites.com, the takeaway service that delivers high quality food has today announced a service called ‘pretend you cooked’ that allows customers to pretend they have slaved away at a hot stove more convincingly by delivering dirty pans alongside the food. Cooked by a professional chef and delivered to your door, Housebites main courses cost on average between £10 and £12, and now for an additional £5, customers can request the pans used to cook them for added authenticity. Collection of the pans is then arranged as easily as the original delivery slot.
- The ‘dirty pans’ concept emerged on Twitter and Facebook after requests for the service were received through tweets, comments and email feedback
- The ‘pretend you cooked’ option will be available when users select their delivery slot and confirm their order
- Selected postcodes will receive the service during the trial period
- There is a £2.50 refund for those willing to ‘wash up’ before handing back the pans
- Housebites has experienced fast-growing demand since its launch late last year, with celebrity customers such as Stephen Fry and Lily Allen tweeting about their orders
- Housebites allows customers to order fresh, high quality food from local, professional chefs and have it delivered to their door
Quotations
Simon Prockter, founder and CEO at Housebites.com commented:
“As Housebites provides home cooked food, we had a number of customers contact us after ordering to say they had pretended to cook the meal themselves. When a few of them requested we deliver the dirty pans alongside the meal ‘for authenticity’ we thought it could be a useful service, especially for those less adept in the kitchen looking to impress.”
Simon Prockter continued:
“Housebites has been a social business since its inception, and customer feedback on social networks continues to drive innovation. The nature of Housebites meals is that they are cooked at home, so I guess it makes sense that people want to impress their partners or friends by pretending they cooked the meal themselves. It’s harmless fun, so we thought we’d see if we could help them out with some added authenticity.”
Simon Prockter added:
“Despite the attitude of the takeaway industry built on stodgy pizzas and bad chinese food, we appreciate that a meal is much more than refueling. A meal can be a hot date, a dinner party or a chance to get the family around a table. We want to deliver an experience, not just a meal, and this is just another tiny example of us trying to do adapt to the experiences desired by our customers.”
“Of course, if people are willing to go the extra mile for authenticity and do the washing up, then we’re willing to reward the commitment to their ruse.”
