Worcester Swimming Pool launches Sportivate learn to swim courses
October 3, 2011
Worcester Swimming Pool is helping to keep teenagers and young adults active this autumn with two exciting new courses, on behalf of Sportivate. Starting at the end of October, local youth residents can sign up to the new ‘learn to swim’ courses now.
- Sportivate is a £32 million Lottery programme that gives 14-25 year olds access to six-week courses in a range of sports, including those offered at Worcester Swimming Pool
- Aiming to increase participation amongst teenagers and young adults, whilst providing them with a safe and educational environment to participate in, Worcester Swimming Pool will be running a six week Sportivate ‘learn to swim’ course for 14-18 year olds and Sportivate ‘learn to swim’ course for 19-25 year olds
- Both courses will run from the end of October until mid December and on completion of the programme, each successful participant will receive a number of free swim passes and money off retail products
- All sessions will be run by a qualified instructor and will last for 1 hour each week

Dan Eaton, Operations Manager at Worcester Swimming Pool, commented:
Sportivate is a great initiative to encourage young people to engage in a range of activities. We’re really looking forward to running the new courses at Worcester Swimming Pool and hope to see many of the local youth residents taking part! We’ll also be running a scheme to encourage young mums to get active, which will begin in January next year.
