Local leisure centres to take part in Three Peaks Challenge

Members and staff from three local leisure centres are donning their walking boots and taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge all in the name of charity. The challenge will take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September and will help Loddon Valley Leisure Centre, St Crispin’s Leisure Centre and Carnival Pool Leisure Centre to raise money for WheelPower – the national charity for wheelchair sport.

  • The Three Peaks Challenge will see seven teams from the local centres trek up the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales
  • And three teams, including seven hikers and two drivers in each team, will attempt to walk Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 24 hours, to raise a target of £2000 for WheelPower
  • The 24-hour challenge will also include the driving time between each of the mountains, so, Euro Hire in Bracknell has offered the teams three cars at a discount rate in order to help boost the amount of money raised for WheelPower

Quotation:

Tony Penge, Contract Manager across the leisure centres, said:

We’re really looking forward to this challenge; everyone involved is determined to reach the £2000 target and I have no doubt we will achieve this goal. It’s going to be a gruelling 24hours for everyone, but we have every confidence that the teams will complete the challenge and we wish them all the best of luck!
