Parklands Okehampton Leisure Centre launches adult swimming lessons to mark final countdown to the Olympics
To mark 100 days to the Olympics Parklands Leisure Centre in Okehampton is launching a new series of adult swimming lessons every Thursday from 18th April at 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
- Surprising 1 in 5 adults in the UK can’t swim and a further 1 in 5 are either weak or unconfident swimmers
- The swimming lessons aim to give adults the opportunity to develop some of the fundamental skills required for swimming and there is also an opportunity for participants to gain some much-needed confidence in the water
Jon Smith, Contract Manager at Parklands Okehampton Leisure Centre, said:
This is an exciting opportunity for the local community. We feel that it is really important for adults to feel confident in the water and be active, and initiatives like this one are brilliant in terms of helping to achieve that aim and what better time of year than 100 days until the Olympics!
