Once in a lifetime opportunity to meet GB Triathlon Team for St Albans Triathletes

Thirty members from St Albans triathlon club – Tri-Force had a rare and exciting opportunity to receive coaching from the GE Great Britain triathlon team in a unique GE funded master class held at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre.

  • Rick Velati, world-class talent coach for British Triathlon teams led the training sessions
  • Keen Triathlete’s of all ages and abilities participated in the session
  • The session explored intricate techniques involving each of the three disciplines of the sport: swimming, cycling and running
  • Participants trained side by side Lucy Hall, 2011 ETU European Duathlon Championships Silver Medalist and 2011 British Elite Duathlon Champion, Mark Buckingham
  • Tri-Force won the GE Master class after crossing the finishing line first as part of a team relay race at this year’s Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships even in Hyde Park
  • The club was exclusively invited to compete on the proposed London 2012 Olympic Triathlon Course after getting involved in the Tri-Twinning Programme
  • This initiative was launched by the GE earlier this year to encourage people to take part in sport in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games
  • Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre is owned by St Albans City and District Council and operated in partnership with Leisure Connection
