Parklands Leisure Centre in Leicester holds New Year SuperClass in aid of Breast Cancer

Last week, Parklands Leisure Centre in Leicester was the venue of choice for a special New Year SuperClass held in aid of Breast Cancer. Over 100 people attended the three-hour event, which featured a range of different exercise and fitness classes and, over the course of the evening, an impressive £418 was raised for the deserving charity.

  • The SuperClass was organised by the leisure centre as a way of getting the community together in the name of a good cause
  • It consisted of four separate activities each lasting for 45 minutes, and people were invited to dip in and out of sessions as they pleased
  • Every one who attended was invited to make a donation to the charity box, and even had the chance to try antioxidant drink samples as refreshment during the evening
  • Participants were invited to try their hand (and feet) at body pump, body attack, body combat, and stretch relaxation
  • The body pump session had 65 people, body attack had 90 people, body combat had 70 people and stretch relaxation had 50 people, while 38 keen souls stayed for the entire three hours

Quotations

Samantha Ashmore, Head Coach at Parklands Leisure Centre, commented:

The SuperClass was a fantastic night. Not only was it great fun to be involved in such a large-scale community event, but we all got that little bit fitter and raised money for a great cause. Hopefully, this will be the first of many similar events at Parklands.

Kevin Beales, Contract Manager for Parklands Leisure Centre, continued:

This is exactly the sort of event that we want to encourage; when the whole community gets the chance to come together and unite for a cause. We want to establish Parklands as a real hub in the local community, so look out for further upcoming events at the centre!
