Fibre heads up housing development in Brotherton
July 6, 2011
Independent architectural consultancy, Fibre Architects, has this month completed the initial design proposal of a new residential development in Brotherton, West Yorkshire. The land includes an old schoolhouse and former derelict school, which has just been demolished to make room for a new housing development that will be home to ten new houses. Building contractors, Envicon Ltd, will be heading up the £750,000 project, a sizeable residential development, with Fibre Architects closely supporting the contractors during the build.
- The residential development will see the refurbishment of the old schoolhouse and the building of ten new properties, which include a series of three bedroomed-terrace houses, a bungalow and a detached house
- Fibre has specified all materials to ensure the new builds are in keeping with the style of the existing schoolhouse; environmental sustainability and energy efficiency will also be important attributes
- Since being awarded the contract, Fibre has worked closely with the planners pre-application and taken comments on board to ensure the planning process runs as smoothly as possible
- The contract is just about to enter the planning application stage
- Having worked together in the past on several contracts, including a refurbishment project for charity Mencap in Kirklees that was completed at Easter, Fibre and Envicon are looking to continue to work together on more successful projects, bucking the trend in a challenging construction industry
- Brotherton is located in East Leeds
- The overall contract is expected to last for at least one year
Quotations:
Martin Booker, Director of Fibre Architects, commented:
This project really shows that land has all sorts of hidden potential. Turning previously developed land into something more commercially viable and maximising the return through well thought out and precise design is what we pride ourselves on. We’re thrilled that Envicon recognised the quality of our initial concept and look forward to seeing the project through to its completion next year.Mark Ladocha, Managing Director of Envicon Ltd, said:
We’re both relatively young local businesses, who are looking to grow in more trying times and make the most out of an investment. The new development in Brotherton has a lot of potential and, with Fibre’s vision and design skills, we’re confident that a great return will be generated.
