Downham Health & Leisure Centre is inviting local young people to attend roller-skating sessions every Friday starting 28th March after receiving vital funding from The Downham Assembly, which aims to encourage more activities and youth provision in the local community.
Downham Health & Leisure Centre will be hosting a range of fun school holiday activities this summer including free swimming classes and cricket sessions – all designed to encourage local children to stay active.
Downham Health & Leisure Centre re-opened its doors last week to a welcome reception attended by Councillor Chris Best, Cabinet Member for Community Services and Older People, Petra Marshall, Community Resources Manager and David Walton, Client Manager, as well as several members of the local community.
Following reports that PE in schools can put girls off sport for life, Downham Health & Leisure Centre is offering a variety of free sessions for women in Lewisham as part of Women’s Health Week.
On Wednesday 21 September women in Lewisham will have the opportunity to swim for free at Downham Health & Leisure Centre in a bid to encourage more of them to take up swimming.
